On Sunday August 10, C.A.R.E.4Paws hosted its fourth annual Wags n’ Whiskers Festival at Girsh Park in Goleta. The event—the largest adoption festival in Santa Barbara County—featured adoptable dogs, cats and bunnies from 24 animal shelters and rescue groups and showcased a wide range of local pet service providers and animal welfare groups. Just like in previous years, the festival inspired 30-plus dog, cat and bunny adoptions.
Festival-goers enjoyed a great mix of activities, such as agility by Goleta Valley Dog Club, Flyball with the Santa Barbara Supersonic, dancing dogs and police-dog performances. We also paid a special tribute to the “invisible shelter pet,” great dogs and cats who, for no good reason, get overlooked in the shelter environment. As always, our fun Pawsitive Thinking Kids Corner invited children to discover how to care for all living beings, while local veterinarians shared the latest in animal wellness. Plus, Project PetSafe provided low-cost vaccines, microchipping and licensing.
